Gaskets & Seals

Gaskets & Seals

“A gasket is a mechanical seal that fills the space between two mating surfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression.” (Wikipedia)

Metal gaskets and seals are generally used in harsh environments where temperature and conditions do not allow the use of a standard gasket material.

  • Process does not induce stresses into the material
  • Low cost tooling
  • Forming capabilities
  • Tight tolerances achievable

Photofabrication supply high precision custom designed gaskets and seals into the Automotive, Aerospace, Oil and Gas, Medical and Process Industries. High precision gaskets and seals are an ideal product to be manufactured by the Chemical Milling / Photo Etching Process.

The process does not induce stresses into the material or burrs on the edges when cutting out the profile. We can surface etch the material to create a sealing groove or platform within the material / design.

These facts along with the low cost tooling, forming capabilities, tight tolerances achievable and short delivery times, 5 days or less, are the reasons so many companies turn to Photofabrication as their preferred supplier.

For prototype and volume gaskets and seals the manufacturing technique of choice is Chemical Milling, let us illustrate this in more detail:

Main Benefits of Chemical Milling :

  • Low cost tooling
  • High accuracy
  • Industry leading lead times from concept to finished components
  • Customised parts – you design it – we make it!
  • Surface etch the material to create sealing groves and platforms within the design.
  • Forming and Toolroom capabilities
  • Over 35 years experience in the prototype and development of gaskets to many industries
  • Burr free & Stress free manufacturing method
  • Prototypes – fast turnaround to meet your needs
  • High volume capabilities
  • Various surface finishes available

Photofabrication can manufacture in various materials suitable for gaskets and seals, Aluminium, Brass, Copper, Stainless Steel, Inconel, Monel, Nickel and many more.
